The Lost Weekend

Image
A lthough my Saturday was overscheduled, Sunday made up for it. I got up, watched CBS Sunday Morning , which had a feature on Aaron McGruder of The Boondocks and Carlos Santana , did a few things online, and ate breakfast. My eyelids became heavy so I thought I would just take a quick nap. I must have accidently sprinkled sleeping powder into my pancake batter instead of cinnamon because I slept the whole day away. I woke up to discover that although I had lost my Sunday, I had gained an hour. I forgot that Daylight Savings started today. I don't really care for DLS but I will take an extra hour of sleep if it is an option. I didn't know that: Beginning in 2007 , Daylight Saving Time is extended one month and begins for most of the United States at: 2 a.m. on the Second Sunday in March to 2 a.m. on the First Sunday of November. ( See chart below. ) The new starts and stop dates were set in the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

If he hollers let him go....

S omeone sent this to my email. I've seen it before and I may have even posted it to the old blog. I had to post it today because it resonates so much truth. I was just having this conversation on the way home last night. The italicized sentences really stand out for me. The bold ones are what I actually seem to get right. >>> Listen If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away. If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay. Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior. Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache. Stop trying to change yourself for a relationship that's not meant to be. Slower is better. Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy. If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no, you can't "be friends". A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend. Don't settle. If you feel like...

Horoscope

I love this horoscope! Don't hold back. If there's something beautiful out there that you want (and there will be plenty), go for it. The more beauty you surround yourself with, the happier you'll be. And the happier you are, the more beautiful you'll be. And the more beautiful you are, the more people will be attracted to you. Hmmm, are you starting to sense a pattern? Get out and do what you enjoy and people won't be able to help being drawn to you.

Caffinate Me: An ode to my dark friend

Image
I have been trying to wean myself off of coffee lately. I thought it might be a good time to replace my morning cup o' joe with a nice healthy cup of tea now that the weather is cool. The only problem is that I.LOVE.COFFEE! I love the aroma of fresh brewed coffee, the taste, the smell of fresh beans. I.LOVE.COFFEE. I was an early coffee drinker. My family saw nothing wrong with giving a child a cup o' java in the morning lightened with evaporated milk and syrupy with lots of sugar. C'est bon ! I am sitting here now, sipping a cup of green tea trying to devise a plan to make a detour to Star.bu.cks for some liquid crack. I woke up this morning with what felt like a hangover, only I hadn't been drinking anything but water and tea. I think it has to do with the fact that I haven't sipped on any caffine in any form for over two days. That is typically when the withdrawal symptoms begin...the headaches, the grogginess, abd the crankiness. Like any other addiction, one m...

Three The Hard Way

Image
T his piece reminds me of mis amigas. I am the one in the middle. The three of us are very different in looks and mannerisms but we have some of the same habits. One thing we have in common is procrastination. We all seem to live by the mantra, why do today what you can put off until tomorrow? For this reason we have learned to laugh about our "issues." Which brings me to the topic of this post. Once again it is time for the circle of friends to celebrate and once again we are doing last minute preparations. And for some reason everyone seems to think that I am the Queen of last minute planning. Here is a little background, on your right is the friend who we decided we would surprise the night of my housewarming for her birthday. My friend on your left was supposed to come over and help set up for the party. Why was she the last person to arrive to the party??? I think we were cutting the cake when she got there. There were similar incidents...the Kwanzaa party, the bridal ...

Blogging personality

Image
Your Blogging Type is Confident and Insightful You've got a ton of brain power, and you leverage it into brilliant blog. Both creative and logical, you come up with amazing ideas and insights. A total perfectionist, you find yourself revising and rewriting posts a lot of the time. You blog for yourself - and you don't care how popular (or unpopular) your blog is! What's Your Blogging Personality? T here might actually be something to this...I kind of like the brilliant part! I do tend to overthink and a blog seems to be a good outlet for all the thoughts running rampant through my mind. Not sure if my creativity comes through on my blog because alot of times I am just getting my thoughts out. I think I have so much going on in my head because I hoard information. Whether it is from books, blogs, periodicals or personal observations. I think I need to read this book but then maybe it might contribute to the problem because I will be overthinking my overthinking. Hmmm. The p...

I know you don't want me to split yo dome! I'm about to bruise ya face and it's sad... - Brooke Valentine (listen) I 've mention in a past post that I am taking a class . Last week was our first quiz. We were all expecting a written exam but the instructor, decided to make it an oral exam. So she called people in pairs to go to the front of the class and answer questions from chapter one. Well, I was out of the room when she started this process so I wound up being in the last group to go up. The other people who hadn't yet been up included a muslim woman (MW) who wears the full jilbab and hijab , and a woman(LW) who had come in about an hour late that day and seemed a little off whenever she was called on during class. The three of us wen...
