I'm off the computer until after the New Year. Hope you enjoy yourselves. Can't promise I will return in 2007 but more than likely I will. Thanks for reading.

Tail Spin

There's a song that I absolutely adore by Teena Marie. Stop the World . She begs with all the pain of a woman overwhelmed with life's pressures s top the world I want to get off it's turning much too fast. Although this weekend should have ideally been as relaxing as the last, it wasn't. I could shut my mind off. Overstimulation perhaps? I watched The Devil Wears Prada on DVD. Cute flick. I also went to the theater (gasp) to see The Pursuit of Happyness . Great film. From what I understand naturally the script writer took liberties with the story but they story that was told was engaging. It got a little long at the end and I felt burdened by all of his problems. I would love to the see the 20/20 piece that everyone keeps referring to. I may also try to read the book during the holidaze. Next movie I plan to see is Dreamgirls . During the 30 minutes (I kid you not!) of previews I saw a few upcoming movies that looked really good. Sunday was a complete disaste...

I can't get no...satisfaction

I've been craving comfort lately. Comfortable people, comfortable places and comfort food. That song is right...Christmas just ain't Christmas without the one you love. Someone to buy gifts for and make special holiday treats for him to sample. And another thing, who the hell let the mean people out? I left the house early this morning to get to work on time...almost like a special holiday treat for the boss ya' know? Naturally I was assaulted because of course I couldn't just mind my own business and be peaceful. Incident number one occurred on a downtown express train. I was lucky to get a seat and after getting the 'pod set with the right mood music pulled out Fever to continue reading where I'd left off the other night. I have the tunes going and I am reading when the woman sitting in the seat facing mine gets up for her stop and knocks the book out of my lap without so much as a glance backward to acknowledge what she did. I started a slow simmer. ...

Irish Oatmeal and Ex Lovers

And so it goes while eating a bowl of oatmeal this morning I thought about the promise of a special breakfast of homemade Irish Oatmeal from the Ex that has recently resurfaced. Then it dawned on me what it was about this man that drew me into him. He gave me a sense of comfort ... that is when he wasn't causing drama. The Capricorn, as he is known to some, was one of only three men I've been with who actually "took care" of me. He cooked for me each time I came to see him. The man can cook! He made sure I was taken care of and comfortable. Maybe that is why I dealt with his issues for a year and half. Because when it was good it was good but when he messed up he really messed up. If I could package up all the good things about him along with Supastar and a couple of other exes without the bad stuff...we'd be in business! Alas, this is not the case and I am left with memories of cold winter days where I was snuggly tucked away inside his apartment well fe...

Relax Yourself Girl

For the first time in a long time I actually had a relaxing weekend. I didn't HAVE to be anywhere at any particular time. So I took the time to walk and relax. The weather was nice (considering it is December) and now I am refreshed and clear minded. The ex I wrote about in the last post reached out to try to reconnect. I'm not going that route again althought it would be nice to have a snuggle partner for the cold winter months. I'll just settle for the snuggles from my kitty poo. When she is in the mood. I did a lot of reading this weekend which is something I hadn't been doing for a while. I would read a little here and there but I actually let me mind focus long enough to finish Do You Take This Woman and start Fever by Dominique. I'm going to try to finish Fever this week or next weekend. I also plan to finish Friday Night at Honeybee's before the holiday season ends since I will have some free time. I've had a couple of offers for Christmas but...

The Weather Outiside is Frightful!

boots- check hat- check scarf-check gloves-check turtleneck - check sweater-check ski jacket- check wool pants with lining- check pantyhose to wear under wool pants - check double facial moisturizer - check, check As the temps dipped into the teens today, I made sure to layer myself thoroughly. This weather is simply ridiculous! It has been ranging 50 degrees!!! Out-of-control. This morning I completely zoned out on the subway. The train pulled into my stop, the doors opened, people got off, people got on. Only when the conductor announced what the next stop was did it hit me that my ass was about to miss my stop. I casually got up from my seat and walked calmly to the door as if I intended to wait until the very last minute to get off the train. I guess I need a vacation. Now, if only to get my hands on some vacation money and I'll be good. So, just as a forewarning, this post is about to be all over the place. I haven't been wanting to blog or even write in my journal l...

Black Girls

Black girls learn to love hard By Ras Baraka Black girls learn to love hard Concrete love An in spite of love Even though love An In between crying love They learn love hard. They rush to grade school dodging whistles And lewd stares from passing cars of men on their way to work They learn vulgarities as compliments They pretend to get used to being touched when they don't want to be And get attention because they are pretty Everyone wants to feel them Press up on them Rub against them Throw them down Cuss them Smack them Penetrate them Out of love A be strong love A hard love to swallow Young girls sit on stoops and porches In beauty parlor conversations Watching their older sisters With black eyes and bruised self-worth Learning to be second And how to hate men and love them all in the same sentence They whisper about the women that found love in their sister's arms But secretly wonder how it feels. Some girls watch their mothers get beat before breakfast And get a ride to sc...
