Three The Hard Way
This piece reminds me of mis amigas. I am the one in the middle. The three of us are very different in looks and mannerisms but we have some of the same habits. One thing we have in common is procrastination. We all seem to live by the mantra, why do today what you can put off until tomorrow? For this reason we have learned to laugh about our "issues." Which brings me to the topic of this post. Once again it is time for the circle of friends to celebrate and once again we are doing last minute preparations. And for some reason everyone seems to think that I am the Queen of last minute planning. Here is a little background, on your right is the friend who we decided we would surprise the night of my housewarming for her birthday. My friend on your left was supposed to come over and help set up for the party. Why was she the last person to arrive to the party??? I think we were cutting the cake when she got there.
There were similar incidents...the Kwanzaa party, the bridal shower where girlfriend on the left was the guest of honor, the holiday cook out, and now her surprise birthday party! I have had everyone from Lefty's husband, to Righty to Jersey Girl calling and emailing all day. That's right, all day because they decided today that it would be a great idea to throw this party tomorrow! So, at this point we have a location, a day, a tentative time and a tentative guest list. Of course it doesn't matter that this is Halloween weekend, right?
The strange thing is that it usually turns out well despite the last minute nature of our gatherings. So I will take the advice of my sweetheart and "just go with the flow and hope for the best." He always knows the right things to say with his fine self.
