Comb through it

Image
I have signed up to review different products and hope to share some of them here. I am also trying products on my own. For example I have been trying to find the perfect shampoo conditioner combo that helps make comb outs easier on my thick, curly, natural hair while providing lasting moisture. I tried Fekkai Shea Butter when it was on clearance at Target during the Christmas holidays. Wow! What a bargain because it has lasted for more than 6 months. I should have gotten two. (Now I'm wondering if I should scour the internet looking for more!) I priced it at Ulta and it was a bit pricier than the deal I got, so I opted instead for the Ouidad Curl Quencher shampoo and conditioner . There was also a travel size of the Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner on the rack near the register. I'd wanted to try it out but didn't want to buy a whole bottle since they often sit around unused if I don't immediately fall in love with a product. This is the ...

What happened to spring?

The first week of vacation was wonderful! Warm and sunny days. This week has been chilly, but apparently not cool enough to turn to the heat on in the building. So lately I've been looking at these beauty sites that talk about the new trends with fingernails. I have never been big on doing my own nails. My mother had these long luxurious fingers that she manicured and painted herself. I have these short stubby fingers that I don't like to do myself. When I worked in offices I would get my nails done in a nail shop about every 2 weeks. I had let that slip since I have been working this job and my nails have been downright embarrassing at times. I've started going to the nail shop again, but I also need to be able to care for my fingers at home between visits. Target had Essie Nail polishes on sale last week and I picked up two colors and a top coat. My polishes have actually been lasting a while. The time before last I had a pretty pink and this time I got OPI bubble bat...

It's a Beautiful Day - India Arie

Image
Good Morning, Been reestablishing my relationship with God and myself. I say my prayers at night, but God and I were long overdue for a deep heart to heart. I am learning. I am growing.  Part of the process is healing my body through better nutrition. I've been serious about it. I feel my energy returning. I am moving back into healthy habits. I have no choice but to live my life in a way that is pleasing to God. I am off to take a walk in Central Park before it gets too hot outside. Have a beautiful day!

Hunting and gathering

Searching for an apartment is frustrating. In my mind I have a vision of what I expect and what I deserve. All of the ads I see are trying to woo the Columbia and City College students and professors. What about the regular working folk like me?  We need a nice place to live too. Then they want all of your personal information (which makes me very uncomfortable), 40x the rent and spotless credit. To rent a place, not to buy. These people seem to think they are renting gold mines. You should see some of these dumps that they are requiring all of this for. While my budget doesn't allow me to stretch my imagination, I know that I can find a decent, safe, and clean place to live with what I have to work with. I don't have elaborate dreams and really am a pretty simple girl though I do appreciate beauty. It's out there waiting for me to claim it. As an aside, I am thinking of starting (yet) another blog of just beautiful spaces and accoutrements to keep my vision clear [Tumbl...
