Where did Sunday go?

Image
What a short Sunday! Even though I woke up early I still did not get much done. I spent the morning uploading pictures, paying bills, and finally getting out of the house. It was a lovely spring-like day (I never get tired of saying this. This "winter" has been absolutely Ah-may-zing!) The goal was to get a mani-pedi and then take care of one or two errands. Didn't work out that way. Seems everyone else must have had the same idea because the nail salon was busy. Not packed, but a steady flow of customers. I was in there for hours. On the plus side, my feet are baby soft and my nails are cleaned up. I also got a 10 minute massage. I also checked out a new little flea market that recently opened up. Picked up some cute jewelry.  Stopped for dinner to go and headed home. Ready to start this week before vacation!

Putting sat back into Saturday

Image
Some religions believe that Saturday is the true Sabbath. A day rest and relaxation. Our society (at least the one I live within) believe that every minute of the day should be filled with activity. I like to have at least one day of just rest and relaxation. Sleeping in, catching up on reading, watching movies, etc. Unfortunately, I really don't have that luxury since very little gets done during the week after work. I miss the days of having energy after work to take care of things. Still struggling with how to divest from work. While my laundry continues to pile up, the chores need tending, errands need running, and nails and eyebrows need to be maintained, I will be sitting and catching my breath. For what was deemed a "short" week, I feel worn out. So, today I will be putting the Sat back into Saturday and will have to try to get caught up with my responsibilities tomorrow...with the other procrastinators.

Living for the weekend

So, another weekend is here! Yea! Today was OK. Not horrible, but got a little rough towards the end of the day. Went to check out a restaurant I'd promised to write about for over a year. Was pretty disappointed with the fare so trying to figure out how to express that without trashing the place since it wasn't horrible. The guy at the restaurant complimented my new camera! Yes! I have to tell my friend in D.C.  Super busy week coming on, so I want to enjoy this weekend.

To Do this weekend

I could definitely go for brunch today! Hungry, but still sleepy. Did not sleep well the past couple of nights. Top of my list this weekend: Clean laundry wrap gifts Write Christmas cards I probably won't put the tree up until next week (if then.) I tend to leave the tree up entirely too long. I won't say how long is too long because is embarrassing. Happy holidays!

Maybe tomorrow...

So I left too late to get anything good from the farmer's market. Not sure if they came with crappy produce or if they sold out of all the good stuff by the time I got there. Bought some jalapeno pickles. Yummy! Also bought some coffee, although they didn't have the Mexican variety. I am going to try some from Papua, New Guinea. Also got some apple cider. Still not as fresh as the batch we got when we went apple picking. I will just have to wait until fall when we go apple picking again. I actually went to two farmer's markets. By the time I got to the second one the last vendor was packing up for the day. That was at 4 p.m. I thought they closed at 5 p.m.  Walked around the corner to a produce market and picked up some cantaloupe and blueberries. Decided to go across the bridge to return something and wound up spending twice as much on more stuff. I spent all that time cleaning out my apt. just to buy more stuff! If I don't have hoarder tendencies! Been doing a lot o...

Saturday Morning - The Way

Making Jill Scott's " The Way " my theme song of the day. Woke up this morning with a smile on my face. Doing a little cleaning up before I head out to the Farmer's Market. I need to find some sweet, juicy fruit. I am so disappointed with the fruit they sell in the supermarkets. The only fruits that I can count on being decent from a supermarket are apples. I also want to buy some shrimp and salmon. I feel like Saturday might not be the best day to buy fresh seafood. I wonder what day is the best day. Hold up, about to google it. Okay, back. So google says Tuesday. I thought I remembered hearing that before. I hate to have to wait until Tuesday to buy fish though. Makes no never mind since we still have no gas to cook it with! So, last night I looked at AU's graduate certificate program that I have been researching. They have exactly what I need! To add icing to the cake they also prepare students for the National Board Certification. Sounds like a winner to me!...

full weekend

Where do I even begin with this weekend. Full. I'm ready to sleep so will recount later.

God Said...

This weekend the plans were to do the usual chores and errands and get some work in. God said that wasn't happening. Saturday I wasn't feeling 100 percent so I was planning to relax. My cousin called me in the afternoon to convince me to come out to the Puerto Rican Day celebration in East Harlem. I'd never been in all the years I've lived here. It was either too hot, too cold, too rainy, I had other plans, etc. Well, this year it was too chilly and damp but I went anyway. I was not a happy camper. I could deal with the cold, but the noise and the crowds were beyond me. I was ready to go! As it turned out, by the time I found him the police were shutting it all down! It was only 5PM. In the past they would party all night. So we left and warmed up in a Starbucks in the nearby Target before heading out to get something to eat. I didn't want to eat in Harlem so we drove to New Jersey and ate at Fuddrucker's. Had never been, but heard from someone that it has good ...

Tail Spin

There's a song that I absolutely adore by Teena Marie. Stop the World . She begs with all the pain of a woman overwhelmed with life's pressures s top the world I want to get off it's turning much too fast. Although this weekend should have ideally been as relaxing as the last, it wasn't. I could shut my mind off. Overstimulation perhaps? I watched The Devil Wears Prada on DVD. Cute flick. I also went to the theater (gasp) to see The Pursuit of Happyness . Great film. From what I understand naturally the script writer took liberties with the story but they story that was told was engaging. It got a little long at the end and I felt burdened by all of his problems. I would love to the see the 20/20 piece that everyone keeps referring to. I may also try to read the book during the holidaze. Next movie I plan to see is Dreamgirls . During the 30 minutes (I kid you not!) of previews I saw a few upcoming movies that looked really good. Sunday was a complete disaste...
