Good Gracious!

Man, I've been wanting some red beans and rice for a minute. I soaked my beans the other night, but never got around to cooking them. This morning I was afraid my beans would sprout, so I needed to figure out what I should do. Then I remembered that I have a crock pot in my cabinet. I think I bought it when I moved into my first apartment in Berkeley. I was right out of college, young, and fresh. I happened to ship it back here to New York when I found it in storage. So, I dumped the beans in the pot and turned it on high. Well, the thing only has two settings and no indicator light. I hoped for the best. I got home and all of the water had evaporated and it burned slightly. Note to self, next time leave it on low!

I didn't come right home after work tonight. I've had this piece I have been working on for a week now. I wanted to get it finished, but if I come home after work I just crash. I decided to stop at the cute cafe and work on it there. While I managed to stay awake, I was so distracted by the conversations going on around me. I would love to just sit in there one day and write about the snippets of conversation I hear around me. I managed to get a lot done, and hope to finish up tonight at home. I had to leave because they had a community meeting in there. That is a topic in and of itself.

Stopped at the wine store on the way home and picked up a Malbec. It's a brand I haven't tried before so hope it is good. Want to finish this piece first before I treat myself though. Really taking my time with it to fact check and edit for clarity. Funny thing, on the way home I ran into one of the people I mentioned in the piece. I have a lot of admiration for her. She's got so much hustle.

Speaking of hustle, let me get back to writing this piece.

My baby has crossed the rainbow bridge

I know a few of your have been lurking here for years. So you know that I had a sweet little fur baby who I loved very much and who has moved with me from city to city since I've had her. It is with much sadness that I must report that my sweet girl was put to sleep to on Monday. She was getting up in age and had several medical conditions that warranted putting her to sleep. Her quality of life had deteriorated and I was no longer able to care for her the way she needed to be cared for. Her vet wanted her put down a while ago but because I have my issues with grief and abandonment I wasn't ready. I think getting therapy for the short time that I did was helpful with getting me over the hump to move forward. I know it was the right thing to do and she went so peacefully that it helped me know that I made choice.  I miss my girl. I look for her because we have never been apart for long periods of time. Took a break

I have been so busy trying to keep all of the balls in the air. Then I got sick. I haven't been this sick in a while. My allergies turned into an upper respiratory infection and I am still coughing as I try to clear out my bronchial passages. I've also started juicing to help support the recovery and have lost 15 lbs. I haven't had much of an appetite, so I drink fresh juice from the juice bar to keep my energy up. I could definitely keep this up for a while then transition back into a pescaterian diet. Sick and tired of being sick and tired.
