Sun Day
I intended to go to church this morning but nature called. I decided to go for a walk in the park instead. I really needed the exercise and I am proud that despite being very out of shape I walked to around (the Meer) and back. My feet hurt because I still haven't found the right shoes, that is about all that really hurts. No knee pains or foot pain that was happening last year. Hopefully I am on the road to recovery. I just need to do it consistently. Not going to church and going to the park made me think of an Emily Dickinson poem:
SOME keep the Sabbath going to church;
I keep it staying at home,
With a bobolink for a chorister,
And an orchard for a dome.
Some keep the Sabbath in surplice;
I just wear my wings,
And instead of tolling the bell for church,
Our little sexton sings.
God preaches,—a noted clergyman,—
And the sermon is never long;
So instead of getting to heaven at last,
I ’m going all along!
