My 7 pounds moment

Perhaps I was already feeling it. Perhaps the emotional response to the movie, but I am ready to throw it all up in the air to be free. Not free like Will Smith's character, but free from the day-to-day B.S. that I have to deal with. It was really awakened when one of my charges lost her father. I attended the funeral and it brought back all of those emotions I had safely tucked away.  For some reason I decided to 'google' my mom and brother - just to see what came up. Both of their grave sites popped up. I have never been to Mommy's grave site since after the funeral she was shipped across the country by my now deceased uncle. I have not visited my brother's grave site since I left L.A. I used to visit it regularly while I lived there and even had flowers delivered every holiday for the first couple of years. I am so disconnected until I feel like I need to drop everything and just go. I was so angry when I realized that I will likely not get married. I w...

Path

I have been think about how I will make my escape. A travel blogger suggested that you be clear about where you will go when you start your journey. I could see my journey starting at home. In S.F.  Then maybe going to D.C. and onward to where life leads me. I am so ready to walk away from everything and rediscover that exhileration of what it felt like when I moved to a new place. Sometimes I think I will just move to L.A. and set up shop there. I am just so ready to get out of NY and and go somewhere where the sun shines and people are friendly.  Where your dollar stretches farther and where I can see myself living a complete life.

Writing a new chapter

Spent this long weekend dreaming of the next chapter of my life. Exploring travel blogs and trying to figure out how to make 2013 my epic year of travel. While I am willing to give it all up to explore the world, I do have to consider the fact that I have precious pet I would have to leave behind. Still, I know that my dream of leaving NYC behind and being able to to 'move about freely' will be a reality.

Long weekend in October

I had so many big plans for doing fun things on this three day weekend. I failed when I took an afternoon nap today and felt all of my energy drain out of my body. I was more tired than I thought. This change of seasons is doing a number on us. Eighty degrees one day and a huge drop the next. Rain, fog, humidity...it's crazy!  I can't figure out if I should wear boots or sandals. While Saturday was a wash here are some things I hope I can accomplish this weekend: laundry eyebrows pedicure massage hot cocoa from City Bakery neighborhood events typing minutes transcribing interview paying bills taking car for maintenance grocery shopping returning boots to Marshall's shopping for blue jeans write a recommendation write a report clean read for work Now that it is in black and white and not floating around in my head it seems more attainable. Hoping I feel more energetic tomorrow so I can get up early, though everything opens late on Sunday and once I star...

Charisma

This article is something I wish I'd read at 11. I agree with everything. I have discovered that over the years I have become social awkward. Not that I have ever been outgoing, but my social skills suck! It is a combination of being innately shy, the time I spent alone, and technology. Hiding behind a smart phone or a lap top can kill your social skills. While I still don't like meeting people I will try to implement some of the suggestions. http://business.time.com/2012/07/13/10-habits-of-remarkably-charismatic-people
